Good Morning, after doing some much needed work done in other areas, I am able to concentrate on what is happening here.
Today's WIP is a lace that I have been struggling with, but I feel like I have finally got it sussed. As I go through the pattern and how it is progressing on a day to day basis you will be able to see the difference and the item taking shape. My idea was to offer a cream lace... something that feels textured and looks pretty.
At first the pattern was difficult for me to decipher... I must have restarted about 4 times because I kept dropping stitches here and there, but now I can finally say, I have got it sussed. So far it is a lovely width and will be perfect for a luxurious scarf for the winter... I have other colours in waiting, I am planning on burnt oranges and reds for the winter... Really looking forward to those ones, I can't wait to have them completed... so that you can see them and even buy them from the catalog...
As I've said before in a previous post. knitting is quite hard for me, because I lost a lot of the skills but as you can see, I'm fighting through that. I can only hope that other people that have had to re-learn the skill are doing equally well. There are many resources out there to help you fight through the difficulties as a novice or even a skilled hand knitter / designer... One thing I can say is... never give up trying and it is never too late to learn.. I know... they sound like cliché's but it is true... just take your time.... comprehension of what you need to do when reading a pattern is the first lesson I can offer. Understand what you have to do, then the pattern more or less falls into place. Remember, a person that has written the pattern has the skill and built the pattern by doing it first and then writing every step along the way.
I literally had to re-adjust the pattern that I'm working from and rewrite it to fit the quantity of stitches that I'm working from. In all fairness, it does take a little bit of mind bending and physically working out what will work with the current process of stitches but with the readjustments you will have a completely unique pattern... That is just a handy little tip for you. Every time you change a pattern to work for you, you are changing the script of the pattern. Hence unique. So, with that said, I hope you all have fun learning and continuing your respective projects. Keep challenging yourselves with new projects... as with any skill, it requires time and patience. That's all from me for today, I hope you'll join me again soon. Please share this post to anyone that you may feel would benefit from it. As a little encouragement or even for a bit of insight. Thank you for coming by... see you all soon again...
